Highlights
Barton took an early 1-0 lead on Coffeyville, scoring on a Nataleigh Cliff goal from Theresa Crane less than 2 minutes into the contest. But that is how the score stayed for the next 30 minutes. Coffeyville was able to tie the score when Tarita Gordon broke free for a 1 on 1 with Barton keeper Klarissa Harter and a goal and a tie score. The Cougars took the lead back when Cliff found Crane in the box for a goal and a 2-1 halftime lead.
The Cougars took a 2-goal advantage 15 minutes into the 2nd half when Flavia Bernardes scored on an assist from Yesenia Garcia. Garcia added a goal just 5 minutes later on Crane’s 2nd assist and Barton had built a 4-1 lead with 25 minutes left in the contest. Jaszmyne Beverly added 2 goals in the final 10 minutes of the game for the 6-1 final. Ailie Freel assisted the 1st and Crane recorded her 3rd assist on the game on the final goal.
Barton will now turn focus to Butler – a team the Cougars beat 2-0 on the road earlier this year. Butler has an impressive 16-4 record this season and is receiving votes in the NJCAA Poll after spending some ranked before Barton defeated them in El Dorado.
