Barton’s season ends with overtime loss at Dodge
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team saw its season come to a tough end Tuesday afternoon in Dodge City as the Cougars fell in overtime. Barton lost 3-2 to Dodge City in the opening round of the Region VI playoffs to bring the Cougars season to an end. Barton ends tied for the most wins in school history, finishing 10-8-2. Dodge, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, will take on No. 1 Johnson County in the semifinals. Barton and Dodge had tied earlier this year and both tied for 4th in the conference but Dodge was awarded the No. 4 seed and the home game between the 2 teams after going to the 3rd tiebreaker to break the tie.

Garcia scores 7 goals; Cougars win for 10th time
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team had a record setting afternoon Friday in Concordia. In the process of beating Cloud County 7-1 the Cougars broke one school record and tied another in the regular season finale. Barton freshman Yesenia Garcia scored all 7 goals to set a school record while the Cougars tied a school mark with their 10th win. It wasn’t enough for the Cougars to gain a home playoff spot, though, as the Cougars needed to score 8 goals to be at home Monday. Instead, Barton will head to Dodge City for the opening round of the Region VI playoffs. Barton tied for 4th with Dodge at 6-3-1 in the Jayhawk. The Cougars are now 10-7-2 overall. Barton and Dodge will play at 2 pm Monday with the winner advancing to Hummer Park in Topeka for the Region VI semifinals Saturday afternoon.

Cougars beat Allen; win for 9th time – 2nd most in school history
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team earned a key Jayhawk Conference win Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Fields and is just 1 win away from tying for 4th in the conference. Barton put itself in position to tie for 4th with a 1-0 win over Allen County to improve to 5-3-1 in the Jayhawk with 16 points. Barton can make it 6-3-1 and 19 points with a win over Cloud County Friday in Concordia. Dodge City, the team Barton could tie, is done for the year with a 6-3-1 mark and 19 points in the Jayhawk. Barton improved to 9-7-2 with the win, making it the 2nd winningest team in the 7-year history of the program. The most wins in a season is 10 set in 2003. This year’s group was tied for 2nd at 8 with the 2005 Cougars.

Barton loses at No. 13 Johnson County in Jayhawk play
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team lost to the No. 13 ranked team in the country Monday, falling at Johnson County, 7-0. The loss dropped the Cougars to 4-3-1 in Jayhawk Conference and 8-7-2 overall. Johnson improved to 9-0 and 16-2-1. More importantly, Barton must now win its final 2 games to have a chance to host a 1st round playoff game in the upcoming Region VI tournament. The currently sit in 6th place but could move to 4th.

Barton ties Dodge in Jayhawk; still in contention for home playoff game
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team played 110 minutes Wednesday at Dodge City and the contest still didn’t have a winner. Barton and Dodge fought to a 1-1 tie in Dodge after 2 scoreless overtimes. The tie kept the 2 teams in a dogfight for a home playoff spot along with 2 other teams for the final 2 home spots. Dodge is currently in that 4th and final home spot with 16 points while Barton has 13. The Cougars, though, have two more games left than Dodge and could tie them. Coffeyville and Hutchinson are also battling for those final home spots. Barton is currently 4-2-1 in the Jayhawk and 8-6-2 overall while Dodge is 5-3-1 and 8-5-1.

Cougars back on winning track with 1-0 Jayhawk victory over Neosho
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team got back on the winning note Saturday afternoon at Cougar Fields, scoring a 1-0 Jayhawk Conference win over Neosho County. The Cougars scored midway through the opening half and made that stand up for the win. Barton improved to 4-2 in conference play and stayed in the running to host a home playoff game later in the year. The win also pushed Barton to 8-6-1 overall this season, matching the 2nd most wins in the 7-year history of the program. The most wins in a season is 10. Barton will be back on the pitch Wednesday when the Cougars travel to Dodge City to take on the Conquistadors.

Barton loses to Butler in Jayhawk action
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team lost to Butler Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Fields, falling to the Grizzlies 3-0. Barton lost for the 2nd straight in Jayhawk Conference play and now stands at 3-2 in the Jayhawk and 7-6-1 overall this season. Butler remained 1 of 2 unbeaten teams in the Jayhawk, moving to 5-0 and 9-3-1 overall. Johnson County is 7-0 in the conference and 12-2-1 overall. The Cougars will look to return to the win column Saturday when they play host to Neosho at 2 pm in Jayhawk play.

Barton rebounds with 3-0 win at Hesston
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team rebounded from its loss to Coffeyville with a 3-0 win at Hesston Friday night under lights. The Cougars scored 2 times in the opening half and added a goal early in the 2nd half for the 3-0 win. Barton is now 7-5-1 on the season. The 7 wins are the 3rd most in a season for the program, which is now 7 years old. The record for a season at Barton is 10 wins, set in 2003. The Cougars are 1 shy of the 2nd highest total of 8 wins.

Cougars drop 1st conference game with 1-0 loss to Coffeyville
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team saw its brief 2-game winning streak snapped with a 1-0 to Coffeyville Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Fields. The loss was the 1st of the season Jayhawk Conference and Region VI play for Barton, as the Cougars fell to 3-1 in both the Region and Conference. Barton played the game without its leading scorer Renata Lecca, who missed the game with an injury. The Cougars will play again Friday at Hesston before returning to Jayhawk play Wednesday when they host Butler.

Barton scores two big Jayhawk Conference wins; beats Hutch, Indy
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team came off one of its worst outings of the season with perhaps its best outing to date. The Cougars rebounded from a bad outing in a loss to 5-1 Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa with a 2-1 win Friday at Hutchinson – the runner-up in last year’s Region VI Championships. Barton backed that impressive win up with a 5-0 blanking of Independence Sunday at Cougar Fields as the Cougars went 2-0 over the weekend and improved to 3-0 in Region VI play. Barton is now 6-4-1 this season and has surpassed last year’s win total of 5. The 6 wins are the tied for the 3rd most in 7-year history of the program. The most wins in a season came in 2003 when Barton went 10-8-4. Barton will host Coffeyville Wednesday as the Cougars attempt to remain unbeaten in Jayhawk play along with No. 12 Johnson County, Dodge City, and Butler. Coffeyville is currently 3-3 and 6-5.

Barton women’s soccer loses to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team saw its record dip to an even .500 with a 5-1 loss to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Fields. Barton lost for the 3rd straight game to fall to 4-4-1 on the season in a game that was closer than the final score. The Cougars are still 1-0 in Jayhawk and Region VI play and are just 1 win shy of last year’s total of 5 wins. Barton will play its 2nd conference game of the year Sunday when it hosts Independence.

Barton women’s soccer falls to Hill College, 3-1
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team came up short in a battle with Hill College (Texas) Saturday afternoon at Cougar Fields, falling 3-1. Barton fell behind early in the contest, falling short as it played catch-up the rest of the way. The Cougars will go after win No. 5 Wednesday when they play host to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa at 2 pm. Barton is now 4-3-1 on the season and still 1-0 in the Jayhawk Conference. The Cougars' next conference game will be Sunday at home against Independence.

Barton splits road games; now 4-2-1 on season
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team continued to play well early in the season, winning 2-0 at Western Nebraska Saturday before losing 5-0 at Laramie County Sunday. Barton’s win at Scottsbluff Saturday moved them to within 1 of last year’s total of 5 wins. The Cougars were as fortunate Sunday in Laramie, Wyom. as the Cougars fell to a very good Golden Eagle squad. Barton will be back at home Saturday after playing it’s last 6 games on the road. Barton home game at 2 pm against Hill (Texas) College will be just the 2nd of the year for the Cougars.

Cougars open Jayhawk play with shutout win at Garden City
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team is closing in on its win total from last season in a hurry. Barton won 5-0 at Garden City Thursday to open Jayhawk Conference and Region VI play and in the meantime improved to 3-1-1 on the season. Last year Barton finished the year with a 5-13-1 mark. Barton scored twice in the 1st half and 3 more times in the 2nd half for the win.

Barton goes 2-1 in Missouri over Labor Day Weekend
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team lost for the 1st time Sunday, capping a 2-1 trip through Missouri over the weekend. The Cougars opened with a 3-2 win over Maple Wood College in Kansas City Thursday then won 3-2 in St. Louis over Forest Park Friday. The Cougars finally lost for the 1st time this year on Sunday in a 2-1 setback at St. Louis Meramac. Barton is now 2-1-1 on the season and will start Jayhawk Conference play Wednesday at Garden City.

Cougar women tie with Western Nebraska to start 2007 soccer season
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team started its 2007 season off with a 1-1 tie in the Barton Classic this weekend. The Cougars played just once in the Classic to start the season. The two teams battled with a pair of 10 minutes sudden death OTs without a goal to end with the tie. Western Nebraska defeated Cloud County Sunday in the Classic by a 10-0 score. Barton will travel to Missouri for 3 games this weekend.
