Cougars rewrite record book in 12-0 win over Coffeyville
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team couldn’t have started the 2005 Jayhawk Conference play with a much better effort. The Cougars rolled to a 12-0 win over Coffeyville in the home opener, setting numerous records in the process. By the time it was over, Barton had broken or tied 6 team records and 5 individual records – including the 12 goals – as the Cougars improved to 1-2 on the season. Coffeyville, playing in its first season, falls to 0-4.

Highlights
The 1st 30 seconds of play set the tone for the remainder of the game as sophomore Robin Reidle started a recorded-tying day with a goal just 31 seconds into the contest to give Barton a 1-0 lead. That is the quickest goal in Cougar history and was the 1st of 4 goals for Reidle, tying the Barton record set last season by Breanne Riggs. Reidle got all 4 of her goals in the 1st half, scoring 4 of Barton’s 1st 6 goals. Barton took a 7-0 lead to halftime.

In addition to her goal in the opening minute, Reidle scored again at the 5:02 mark and at 25:44 and 35:54. By games’ end, Reidle not only tied Riggs mark for most goals, she also tied Riggs mark for points in a game with 8. Reidle also tied Richelle Galeaz record of 14 shots in a game. Her 8 shots on goal is the tops for a game. In addition to Reidle’s record day, freshman Elaine Fontes put her name in the record books as well. Fontes handed out 3 assists to break the previous record of 2 held by Galeaz in 2003.

Barton shattered the old mark for goals in a game with the 12 against the Red Ravens. In fact, Barton had its highest goal total of all-time by halftime. The previous high for Barton was 5 goals scored last season against Cloud County. Barton also set team marks for most shots (49), most shots on goal (29), and most assists (8). Barton also set the mark for most points in a half with 7.
