Cougars
remain unbeaten in Jayhawk Conference with 6-0 blanking of Allen Highlights
The Cougars currently tied with Butler and Johnson County atop the Jayhawk standings with 18 points. Barton and Butler are 6-0 with 3 games left while Johnson County is 6-1 with 2 games remaining. The
Barton County Community College women’s soccer team kept its
hopes alive for the Jayhawk Conference title, blanking Allen County
6-0 Saturday afternoon in conference action at Cougar Fields. The
win moved Barton to 8-4 overall this year and 6-0 in Jayhawk play.
Barton still has 3 conference tilts left, including a battle with
the other unbeaten team in the Jayhawk, Butler County, Tuesday afternoon.
Barton is currently riding a school-best 6-game winning streak.
The win over Allen guaranteed Barton a home game in the upcoming
Region VI playoffs. Allen County fell to 2-7 in the Jayhawk and
2-13-1 overall.
The
2nd half had similar shot attempts – 19 for Barton, 1 for
Allen – but the results were much more productive for the
Cougars. This time 5 of Barton’s 9 shots on goal found the
net as Zink added a 2nd goal – her 4th in the past 2 games.
Barton scored all 5 of its goals during a 19-minute stretch in the
2nd half.
