Barton
blanked at Butler County
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team found
itself on the other side of the ledger Saturday after a record-shattering
12-0 win over Coffeyville in the team’s home opener last week.
The Cougars were blanked by an 8-0 score at one of the favorites
in the Jayhawk Conference – Butler County. The game was a
non-conference affair that left the Cougars with a 1-3 overall mark
and still a 1-0 record in Jayhawk play. The Cougars will back at
home Saturday and Sunday when Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa and Iowa
Central visit for the Mid Kansas Shoot Out at Cougar Fields.
Highlights
Barton hung with the defending Jayhawk Champions for the opening
45 minutes of play, trailing just 1-0 at the intermission. The only
goal in the opening half came 17:14 into the game on a rebound for
the Grizzlies. The game stayed that way until halftime. During the
1st half, Butler only put 4 shots on goal while Barton had 1.
The
2nd half, though, was much different. Butler scored just 2:24 into
the half and kept up the pace. The Grizzlies scored 3 goals in the
opening 6:05 of the half and 5 in the first 25 minutes of the half
for a 6-0 lead. Butler added two more before it was done to win
the contest by the 8-0 score.
