Casper
new Barton women’s soccer coach
The Barton County Community College women’s
soccer team will be under the guidance of Bob Casper next season
as Casper has been named to replace Jared Wilbanks, who coached
the Cougars for a pair of season. Wilbanks will be getting out of
college soccer coaching, taking a job in a forensics laboratory
in Texas. Casper comes to Barton from Bemidji State, where he was
an assistant coach the past two seasons. Casper is the 4th coach
in the 6-year history of the program.
Casper
had a pair of the best seasons in school history the past two years,
guiding Bemidji State to records of 10-10 and 12-4-7. The most wins
in any season prior to his stint at Bemidji was just 4. During his
2-year stay, Bemidji State went 22-14-7, placing 2nd in the Northern
Sun Conference in 2005.
Casper
played college soccer at University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and
NCAA Division III school from 1999-2002. He was the co-captain 2
seasons and helped him club improve from 6-13 his 1st season to
10-5-3 in his final year.
Coach
Casper comments
Barton has a rich tradition, which I will work my hardest
to keep going. Though the women’s program is only 6 years
old, we have had great players and coaches who have built the program.
It is my job to keep the girls motivated and to play their best
and bring Barton County women’s soccer to the next level.
