Cougars score opening round road win in Region VI playoffs
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team earned a big win Monday night, capturing a victory in the 1st round of the Region VI playoffs, winning 2-1 over Neosho County in Chanute. The win for the Cougars, the No. 5 seed in the tournament, moved them into the semifinals against top-seeded Butler County Friday morning. Neosho, the No. 4 seed, ends its season with a 10-7-1 mark. The semifinal match-up will be the 3rd contest of the season between Barton (6-10-2) and Butler (15-1-1).

Cougars come up short in season finale; travel to Neosho to open Region VI play
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team again showed improved play despite a loss Wednesday afternoon losing by a 1-0 score to Jayhawk Conference runner-up Dodge City in the regular season finale. The Cougars’ final two games of the regular season came against the Jayhawk champion and runner-up, losing those two games by a combined 3-0. Barton County will now look to the Region VI tournament next week. The Cougars, the No. 5 seed, open play at No. 4 seeded Neosho County in Chanute Monday.

Barton runs unbeaten streak to 3 before loss at Butler
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team continues to play its best soccer as the regular season draws near a close and the playoffs get closer. The Cougars ran their season-best unbeaten streak to 3 games with a 3-0 win at Allen County Saturday afternoon in Jayhawk Conference play. Barton then dropped a 2-0 decision to Jayhawk Conference champion Butler County Monday in El Dorado. The 2-0 loss in the make-up contest was a vast improvement from a 12-0 loss to the same Grizzly team to start the season. Barton is now 5-9-2 overall and 3-4-1 in Jayhawk play.

Barton loses to Johnson, Lon Morris in busy weekend
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team dropped a pair of games over the weekend. The Cougars lost to Johnson County Saturday in a Jayhawk Conference matchup at Cougar Fields then fell to Lon Morris (Texas) in a neutral site battle in Tonkawa, Okla. Barton lost to Johnson by a 7-0 margin and barely lost to Lon Morris, 1-0. The Cougars are now 3-8-1 overall and 1-3 in the Jayhawk Conference.

Cougars knock off Rochester; finish Mid Kansas ShootOut 1-1
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team completed the Mid Kansas ShootOut with a 1-1 mark during the weekend after defeating Rochester (Minn) Sunday by a 2-1 score. The Cougars lost to Iowa Western Saturday by an 8-0 count. The Cougars are now 3-5-1 for the season and winners of 3 of their past 4 contests.

Cougars have rough start to 2004 season
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer had a tough task to start the 2004 season, opening with a very tough Butler County team that was already 2-0 to start the year. Butler took control of the contest midway through the opening half and rolled to a 12-0 win over Barton Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Fields. The season opener was also a Jayhawk Conference opener for the Cougars who fell to 0-1 in both in the Conference and overall. Butler is now 3-0 in the Jayhawk and 3-0 overall.

Wilbanks to coach Barton women’s soccer team
Jared Wilbanks has been named the new head women’s soccer coach at Barton County Community College, replacing Cindy Piper, who left after two years to become the head women’s soccer coach at Nicholls State in Louisiana. Wilbanks comes to Barton County after spending last season as an assistant coach at Sterling College.

Piper leaves Barton to take over Nicholls State program
The Barton County Community College women's soccer team will be in search of a new coach after Cindy Piper was named the new women’s soccer coach at Nicholls State University in Louisiana. Nicholls State is an NCAA Division I school in Thibodaux and is a member of the Southland Conference. Piper leaves Barton after two seasons including the most successful season in school history this past season when Barton finished with a 10-8-4 mark.
