| Banged up Cougars drop 2nd straight with loss to Iowa Central
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team was
riding the high of a school record 4-game unbeaten streak just
a week ago. The past two games, however, haven’t been kind
to the Cougars. With several players out of action Saturday, Barton
County dropped its 2nd straight, losing to Iowa Central by a 4-0
score. The Cougars are now 7-5-2 overall this season while the
Tritons improve to 7-3-1.
Highlights
The Cougars played without the services of freshman Richelle Galeaz,
who missed the game with an ankle injury. Galeaz also missed
part of the 2nd in Barton’s last contest against Butler
County for the Region VI lead. Galeaz has a school record 10
goals this season to lead the Cougars, who have scored 22 total
goals.
Also
absent for the Cougars was Staci Kitch on the defensive end.
The Cougars
still battled with Iowa Central to a 0-0 halftime score.
But at halftime, Barton lost the services of another defensive
starter – Kim Carson – who left the game due to an
illness. Now short 3 players, the Cougars could no longer hold
off the Tritons, who started the season ranked No.9 in the country.
Iowa Central scored 4 2nd goals to put the game away.
