Cougars
women split games at Mid Kansas ShootOut
The Barton County Community College women's soccer team split a
pair of games over the weekend at the Mid Kansas ShootOut on
the campus of Barton County. The Cougars won Saturday in a hard-fought
battle, defeating Bethany Lutheran by a 1-0 score. Sunday, though,
was not as fruitful as the Cougars fell 7-0 to Western Nebraska.
Barton is now 4-3-1 on the season while Western Nebraska is a
perfect 4-0.
Highlights
The Cougars matched their win total in each of the school previous
two seasons with their 4th win of the season Saturday. In each
of the Cougars first two seasons Barton finished with 4 wins.
One more win this season would give the 2003 squad a school record
for wins.
Barton and Bethany Lutheran battled to a 0-0 tie after the first
half Saturday, played with a 30 mph north wind. Going into the
wind in the 2nd half, the Cougars finally put a point on the board
as Richelle Galeaz scored with just 5 minutes to play in the contest.
The Cougars got off 23 shots in the contest while Bethany Lutheran
put just 3 shots on goal.
Sunday was as good a day for Barton as they fell to unbeaten Western
Nebraska by the 7-0 count. Barton got off just 4 shots in the loss.
