Piper
leaves Barton to take over Nicholls State program
The
Barton County Community College women's soccer team will be
in search of a new coach after Cindy Piper was named the new
women’s soccer coach at Nicholls State University in
Louisiana. Nicholls State is an NCAA Division I school in
Thibodaux and is a member of the Southland Conference. Piper
leaves Barton after two seasons including the most successful
season in school history this past season when Barton finished
with a 10-8-4 mark.
Barton’s
season comes to close with tough double OT loss
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team
lost a heart-breaker to ends its season, falling to Johnson
County 3-2 in double overtime in the semifinals of the Region
VI tournament. The loss ends what was a record-breaking season
for the Cougars with a 10-8-4 mark. It was the first time
the Cougars have reached the 10-win mark in the short 3-year
history of the school. Butler County won the Region VI with
a win over Johnson in the finals.
Cougars
move into Region VI Semis; snag 10th win of season
The
Barton County Community College women’s soccer team
advanced to the semifinals of the Region VI post season
tournament with a 3-0 win over Cloud County in 1st round
action at Cougar Fields. The win was also the 10th this
season for Barton – the most in school history – as
they improve to 10-7-4 this season. Barton, the No. 3 seed
in the tournament, will now take on Johnson County, the
No. 2 seed, in semifinal action at Overland Park Friday.
Barton
wraps up No. 3 seed in Region VI
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team wrapped the No.
3 seed in the upcoming Region VI tournament with a 1-0 win over Neosho County
Wednesday in Chanute. The gives the Cougars a 4-2-1 mark in conference play with
just one game remaining on the schedule. The Cougars are 9-6-4 overall. Neosho
fell to 0-12 with the loss and 0-8 in conference.
Barton
women blanked at Johnson County
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team saw it’s
chances for a Jayhawk Conference title slip away Saturday in Overland Park,
falling to Johnson County by a 10-0 score. The loss
dropped the Cougars to 4-2-1 in the
conference with just 2 conference games remaining. Johnson County has finished
conference play with a 7-2 mark while Butler is on top at 8-0 and has clinched
the Jayhawk title. The Cougars need one more win to secure 3rd place.
Barton
earns another tie
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team rallied to score
its 2nd tie in the past 3 games, finishing in a 1-all contest with Northern Oklahoma
at Cougar Fields Thursday. With the tie in the non-conference affair, Barton
is now 8-5-4 overall and remains 4-1-1 in the Conference.
Cougars
rally for tie with Dodge
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team never led against
the Dodge City Conquistadors but did not lose an important game Wednesday afternoon
at Cougars Fields. The contest, played in a steady rain, ended in a 1-all tie
between the two teams that are fighting for a Region VI 1st round home contest.
The Cougars are now 3-1-1 in the region, good for 2nd, and 7-5-3 overall. Dodge
City is 2-3 and 4-7. The No. 1 seed will receive a bye and seeds 2-4 will host
1st round games.
Banged
up Cougars drop 2nd straight with loss to Iowa Central
The
Barton County Community College women’s soccer team was riding the
high of a school record 4-game unbeaten streak just a week ago. The past two
games, however, haven’t been kind to the Cougars. With several players
out of action Saturday, Barton County dropped its 2nd straight, losing to Iowa
Central by a 4-0 score. The Cougars are now 7-5-2 overall this season while
the Tritons improve to 7-3-1.
Barton
earns tie with No. 15 Northern Oklahoma
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team put another first
on its season of firsts. This time the Cougars earned their tie with a ranked
opponent, battling Northern Oklahoma to a 2-all draw in Tonkawa Saturday. The
Cougars kept their unbeaten streak alive with the tie, running it to 4 games.
Barton is now 7-3-2 overall. The Cougars only three losses of the season have
come to teams ranked in the Top 15. Those 3 teams, No. 4 Lewis & Clark (Ill.),
No. 6 St. Louis-Meramec, and No. 12 Western Nebraska have a combined record of
30-1.
Cougars
run winning streak to 3; Galeaz sets school mark
The
Barton County Community College women’s soccer team seems
to be breaking records nearly every time out this season. Another
record fell Wednesday as the Cougars put together the longest
winning streak in the 3-year school history of the program
by recording a 4-0 shutout of Cloud County Wednesday at Cougar
Fields. Richelle Galeaz also broke the single-season goal mark
at Barton. The Cougars are now 7-3-1 overall and 3-0 in Region
VI action.
Barton
wins 5th of season; set school record for wins
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team is playing just
its 3rd year of soccer, but it will go down as the best year to date for the
program. With its 3-1 win at Dodge City Wednesday, Barton County won its 5th
game of the season, setting a school record for wins. In each of the previous
two seasons, Barton won 4 games. The Cougars are now 5-3-1 overall and 2-0 in
the Conference leaving them just 1 of 2 unbeaten teams. Dodge City fell to 1-1
in the Jayhawk.
Cougars
women split games at Mid Kansas ShootOut
The Barton County Community College women's soccer team split a pair of games
over the weekend at the Mid Kansas ShootOut on the campus of Barton County. The
Cougars won Saturday in a hard-fought battle, defeating Bethany Lutheran by a
1-0 score. Sunday, though, was not as fruitful as the Cougars fell 7-0 to Western
Nebraska. Barton is now 4-3-1 on the season while Western Nebraska is a perfect
4-0.
Barton
women earn 3-3 tie at Newman
The Barton County Community College women's soccer team just missed matching
their win total from last year in the first month of this season, finishing with
a 3-all tie at Wichita against Newman University. The Cougars are 3-2-1 overall
this season.
Cougar
women open Jayhawk action with win at Cloud County
The Barton County Community College women’s soccer team jumped to the head
of the Jayhawk Conference for the first time in school history, opening conference
action with a 1-0 win over Cloud County Wednesday in Concordia. The win moves
Barton to 3-2 overall this season and 1-0 in the Jayhawk. |
