| Cougars run to 3-0 in West with win at Colby; move to No. 10 in NJCAA The Barton County Community College volleyball team battled through 3 tough games Monday at Colby but won the match in straight games to stay unbeaten in Jayhawk West play. The Cougars won 30-26, 31-29, 30-24 over the Trojans to improve to 3-0 in West play and 13-4 overall. Barton also moved up 3 spots this week in the NJCAA poll to No. 10. The Cougars will host Lamar (Colo) Thursday before hosting the Highland Hotel Invitational this weekend. The Invitational will feature No. 15 Hutchinson and D-II No. 2 Cowley. Also in the event are Labette and Williams Woods (Mo) JV. Highlights Barton was led in hitting by Rebecca Lima with 12 kills followed by Juliana Moraes with 11. Moraes had just 2 errors on her 20 attempts for a .450 hitting percentage. Lisa Ohanaja was efficient as well, collecting 7 kills on 12 attempts with just 1 error for .500. Kara Robeson also had 7 kills and led Barton with 4 blocks on the night. Ohanaja and Alik Cardoso de Sa each had 3 blocks. Cardoso De Sa led the Cougars with 37 assists as well as 2 serving aces. She was joined by Stacie Thomsen with 2 aces. Cristin Haines again led the Cougars in digs with 15. She was joined in double digit digs by Graci D’Amore, Lima, and Moraes with 10 each. Barton will take on William Woods JV and Labette Friday during the Highland Hotel Invitational then play Hutch and Cowley Saturday.
