Cardoso de Sa named Honorable Mention All American The 5-11 setter was named to the 30-person list after completing an illustrious Barton career with a ninth-place finish at the NJCAA national tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native amassed over 1500 assists this season, making it over 2225 assists in her career, both numbers good enough for Top 5 in the Barton All-Time Records list. Cardoso de Sa also landed in the Top 5 for Most Digs in a Season (384), Most Digs in a Career (619), and Most Total Blocks in a Career (240). “Alik has been an outstanding setter these past two years,” head coach Ryan Parker said. “She has helped our program get back to an elite level. She definitely deserves her All-American award.” For her contributions this season, Cardoso de Sa was also named First Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference as well as to several All-Tournament teams throughout the year. She was also named Region VI-Division I Player of the Week in October after leading her team to its first conference win over rival Hutchinson in four years. Cardoso de Sa had 59 assists in the five-game thriller at Barton. Coming off a return trip the NJCAA National Tournament for the 1st time in 5 years, Barton County Community College volleyball sophomore Alik Cardoso de Sa stepped into the national spotlight in December after adding the title of Honorable Mention All-American to her long list of volleyball achievements.
