Barton sweeps Sterling JV
The Barton County Community College volleyball team earned another sweep for the season, this time taking on the Sterling JV team. The No. 13 ranked Cougars looked like a powerful team once again, beating Sterling 30-28, 30-26, 30-24. It was a non-conference match, but it gives Barton some momentum heading to Concordia to finish the season on Wednesday. The victory over Sterling moves the Cougars overall record to 33-9.

Highlights
The first game of the contest was the closest, with Barton prevailing 30-28. The Cougars never appeared in any real danger of an upset, pulling away in each of the last two games. With a 30-26 win in the second game, Barton had a chance to play just about everyone on their roster. The Cougars finished off Sterling 30-24 in the final game of the night.

Barton was led by some very impressive performances from some non-traditional starters. Kelli Van Vleet turned in a great game, recording 7 kills and 14 digs to lead the Cougars. Chelsi Thornburgh lead Barton with 28 assists and tied for the team lead with 2 blocks. Isabelle Costa was equally as impressive in the match, ending up tied for the team lead with 7 kills and 2 blocks. Costa also recorded 4 service aces to lead the Cougars.

Barton stays on the road to finish up their regular season. Wednesday night the Cougars will be in Concordia to play Cloud County Community College. They are looking to boost their conference record to 7-1 to end the regular season with a win over Cloud. After finishing up against Cloud, the Cougars move on to the Region VI tournament, and then, hopefully, into the national tournament.
