Amy Gillespie begins her 1st season with Barton
County, joining 1st year coach Kurt Kohler. Gillespie is a recent
graduate of Marist College, earning her degree in Communications
from the Poughkeepsie, New York school. Gillespie was a 2-year starter
for the Red Foxes and a co-captain her senior season. She was named
Academic All-Conference her senior season.
Prior to her 2 years at Marist College, Gillespie
played for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College for 2 seasons,
advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament in 2001 when the club
took 9th place. Gillespie earned Dean's Honor status at both schools.
Gillespie is a graduate of Lebo High School, where
she was an All-State selection for the Eastern Kansas school. She
also earned All-Area Player of the Year and was a unanimous All-Conference
selection at the 1A school. She was also an All-State basketball
player, helping her team to the Class 1A state title her senior
season with an unbeaten record.
