Jamaica, USA advance in 4x100m relay semifinals; Finals Friday
Both the United States and Jamaican women’s 4x100m relay teams moved into the finals with strong showings in the semifinals – the 1st round of running. The United States won its heat while Jamaica took 2nd in its heat. Barton County Community College graduate LaShauntea Moore, an alternate on the US team, did not run in the opening round and will more than likely not run in the finals either. A pair of former Cougars did run for Jamaica. The finals will be Friday at 2:30 pm.

Former Cougars Aleen Bailey and Beverly McDonald both run in the opening round for Jamaica as ex-Cougar Veronica Campbell took a day of rest after winning the 200m Olympic Gold the previous night. Campbell will probably replace McDonald on the Jamaican team in the finals. With a leg of the relay run during competition, McDonald will receive whatever medal the Jamaicans may win.
