Williams runs to finals of 200m dash
The United States already swept the 400m dash on the men’s side and now are seriously threatening to do the very same on the men’s side. Among those 3 Americans is former Barton County Community College star Bernard Williams. He rolled into the finals of 200m dash with a 2nd place finish in his heat of the semifinals. Williams and his fellow Americans posted the 3 fastest time of the semifinals and are poised to attempt a 2nd USA sprint sweep for the men.

Williams cruised through the 200m in a time of 20.18 to finish runner-up to Shawn Crawford, who posted the best time of the semifinals at 20.05. Crawford and Williams were well ahead of 3rd place, which clocked in at 20.43. Heat 2 was not quite as fast with Justin Gatlin winning in 20.35. That edged out a pair runners right behind him at 20.36 and 20.37.

The finals will take place Thursday at 2:25 pm (CDT). The 3 Americans will battle it out in the middle three lanes in the finals. Williams will run in lane 3, Crawford in lane 4, and Gatlin in lane 5. Williams will be going for his 2nd Olympic medal, having won a medal during the 2000 Games in Sydney as part of the 4x100m relay team for the USA.
