Allen tabbed 1st team All Conference
Barton County Community College sophomore Brittany Allen was tabbed a 1st Team All Jayhawk West softball selection on the recent all conference team released. Allen was the only 1st team selection for the Cougars while Whitney Boeh, Alicia Salazar and Brooke Pearce were honorable mention picks. Allen and Pearce were also named 2nd team All Region VI.

Cougars battle back through loser’s bracket; fall in Region VI title contest
The Barton County Community College softball team dropped its opening game of the Region VI Championships this past weekend then battled all the way to the championship before falling to Butler in Wichita. The Cougars lost their opener Friday to Colby but won 3 games Saturday before finally losing in their 4th game of the day in the championship contest. Barton entered the 7-team tournament as the No. 5 seed. The Cougars finish their season with a 26-36 overall record.

Barton finishes 2-3 at Colby Tournament
The Barton County Community College softball team started the Colby Tournament off on a good note this weekend but could only get one more win in the event to finish with a 2-3 mark. Barton won its opener in the tournament then dropped the next two on Saturday. Barton also started Sunday with win, but lost its finale to finish the tournament with a 2-3 record and a 21-26 mark overall this season. Barton, due to inclement weather this spring, still has 5 doubleheaders in the final 6 days of the regular season, starting Thursday at Garden City. Barton was to play Wednesday at home against Garden as well, but that game got pushed back to April 29 – the final regular season date teams can play.

Barton sweeps Cloud to wrap up 6 games in 4 days; games at Garden PPD
The Barton County Community College softball team salvaged what turned out to the be the final 2 games of a 6-game, 4-day stretch. Barton was also to play today at Garden for 8 games in 5 days, but weather pushed that contest back for a 2nd time. The Cougars won 10-0 and 13-0 Wednesday at Cougar Fields in Great Bend to capture the final 2 games of the stretch after losing doubleheaders to Butler and at Hutchinson. The Cougars win over Cloud were both Region VI and Jayhawk West games. Barton is now 19-23 overall on the season and 7-7 in Region VI play. That is currently 4th place among the 7 teams that play at the NJCAA Division I level. The Cougars are now 4-6 in the West, tied for 5th.

Cougars win 5 of 7 over 3-day weekend; sweep Cloud, 3-2 at Johnson Tourney
The Barton County Community College softball team is beginning to string together its best softball of the season. With a sweep of Cloud County in Great Bend Friday and a 3-2 showing at the Johnson County Tournament over the weekend, Barton has now won 9 of its last 11 contests. The 13-0, 17-0 sweep of Cloud Friday run Barton’s winning streak to 6 before it ended in Johnson, where Barton’s only losses were to No. 7 ranked Crowder College (Mo) and No. 16 Iowa Western. The Cougars are now 17-19 on the season after stumbling out to a 4-11 start and standing at 12-17 before the current 11-game stretch. Barton will get another test Tuesday in a doubleheader when No. 11 Butler comes to Cougar Fields for a 3 pm start.

Barton shuts out Brown Mackie twice for sweep of Lions
The Barton County Community College softball team had an easy day Tuesday in Salina, rolling to a pair of wins over Brown Mackie, 15-0 and 13-0 in run-rule contests. The Cougar power was at it again as Barton belted 5 homers in the 2 contests. The wins were the 4th straight for the Cougars, who improve to 12-17 on the season. Barton will be at home Thursday when Cloud County visits Cougar Fields for a 3 pm doubleheader in Region VI play.

Cougars get sweep of Neosho; hit 3 straight homers in 1st game
The Barton County Community College softball team showed its power Saturday afternoon at Cougar Fields, sweeping Neosho, 14-9 and 10-0 in Region VI action. During the twinbill, Barton hit 7 homers, including 3 straight in the opener. The sweep broke a brief 4-game losing streak for the Cougars, improving their record to 10-17 on the season and 3-5 in Region VI play. Neosho fell to 9-14 on the season and 4-6 in the region. Barton will be in Salina Tuesday for a twinbill with Brown Mackie. The Cougars are back home Thursday to take on Cloud County in a 3 pm start.

Barton drops home openers to Pratt; loses twice at Colby
The Barton County Community College softball team finally didn’t have to travel to play softball, playing its 1st home games of the season Wednesday against Jayhawk West foe Pratt. The Cougars – playing their 22nd game of the season before being at home – lost two to Pratt, falling 10-1 and 16-13. Barton was back on the road Thursday, losing twice at Colby, 8-4 and 12-4 in Region VI contests. Barton is now 2-2 in the West and 1-5 in the region. The Cougars are 8-17 overall. Pratt improved to a West-leading 6-0 in the conference with its wins and Colby improved to 2-4 in region play. Barton is back home Saturday to take on Neosho County in Region VI play.

Barton softball sweeps games Sunday; ends weekend with 4-3 record
The Barton County Community College softball team finished strong over the weekend, winning all 3 games Sunday to return home from a 7-game weekend with a 4-3 record. Barton spilt games at Neosho Friday before going to Tulsa, Oklahoma for tournament play Saturday and Sunday. The Cougars dropped games Saturday to Cowley and Iowa Western before sweeping 3 foes Sunday in Coffeyville, Independence and Sauk Valley. The wins move Barton to 8-13 for the season. The Cougars will finally get to play at home March 26 when Pratt comes to Great Bend for Jayhawk West play. The Cougars are currently 2-0 in the West.

Cougars salvage tough weekend with win in finale
The Barton County Community College softball had a tough weekend in Concordia at the Cloud Spring Classic, dropping 4 of 5 games. Three of those losses were by 4 runs or less. The Cougars won the finale of the weekend, beating host Cloud County 15-0. Barton is now 4-10 on the season. Barton had its doubleheader with Cloud slate for Wednesday postponed until a later date. The Cougars will travel to Chanute to face Neosho Friday then on to Tulsa for tournament action this weekend.

Cougars split games at Dodge and Seward
The Barton County Community College softball got off to a 2-0 start to Jayhawk West play but an 0-2 start to Region VI as the always complicated West and region races get underway. The Cougars won a pair of West games at Dodge City 11-3 and 15-10 but lost a pair of Region VI contest later in the week to Seward 5-3 and 21-4 at Liberal. The games at Seward were not West games. Those contests will be played later this year in Great Bend as the Cougars play each Region VI team 4 times – of which only 2 count toward the West race.
