Gillette earns 1st team All-Conference recognition
Barton County Community College’s Brandi Gillette capped off her softball career for the Cougars by being named 1st team All-Jayhawk West. Gillette, a sophomore from Midland, Texas, was selected to the 1st team as a 3rd baseman. Last season was she was voted Freshman-of-the-Year in the West.

Barton season comes to an end in District C Tournament
The Barton County Community College softball team saw its season come an end over the weekend in Wichita at the District C Tournament. The Cougars went 2-2 at the event to finish 4th, losing in the loser’s bracket semifinal to KCK 1-0. Barton’s other loss was to the eventual champion Johnson County in the 2nd round, 2-0. Barton earned an 8-2 win over Cloud County to start the tournament and beat Highlands 16-2 in the loser’s bracket. The Cougars finished their season with a 30-31 record.

Cougars finish regular season 4-1 in Cross-over
The Barton County Community College softball team wrapped up the regular season this past weekend in the second Jayhawk Conference Cross-over of the season, going 4-1 against the District C teams from the Jayhawk East. The Cougars started with a 6-0 loss to the district’s top seed Johnson County, then finished with 4 straight wins. Barton beat KCK 4-1 and Highland 10-0 to wrap up play Saturday, then went 2-0 on Sunday with a 6-1 win over Fort Scott and a 2-1 win over Allen County.
The Cougars are now 28-29 overall and finished the year 8-8 in the West, good for 6th place. The Cougars ended their District C play with an 11-7 mark and the No. 4 seed in the upcoming District C tournament in Wichita this weekend.

Barton sweeps Cloud County in Jayhawk West play
The Barton County Community College softball team swept Cloud County Tuesday afternoon in a pair of Jayhawk West and District C games at Cougar Fields. Barton won the opener 4-1 then shutout the Thunderbirds in the nightcap by an 8-0 score.
The Cougars are now 23-27 overall and an even 7-7 in the West. Barton is 6-5 in District play. Cloud County is now 16-23 overall, 3-13 in the West and 5-6 in District C.
