Carminatti named 1st team All American; Dowling earns HM
Marcelo Carminatti became just the 2nd player from the Barton Community College men’s soccer team to be named a 1st team NJCAA All American with the honor he received this week. Carminatti was one of 11 players to earn the 1st team NJCAA Division I All American honor. Barton goalkeeper Donovan Dowling was named as an honorable mention All American giving the Cougars 2 All American in the same season for just the 2nd time in school history. Carminatti joins former Cougar Craig Ratanamorn as the only other 1st team selection in the 8-year history of the program. Ratanamorn was a back-to-back selection as 1st team All American keeper in 05 and 06. This is the 4th straight year a Cougar has been named All American.

The award adds to Carminatti being named the Player of the Year in the Jayhawk Conference earlier this year. He is the 1st Barton field player to be tabbed a 1st team All American following his record setting season with the Cougars. Carminatti set the Cougar career goals record at Barton with 30 – 20 of them coming this past season. That is the 2nd most in a single season at Barton. He is also tied for the career lead in assists with 19 and is the all-time points leader at Barton with 79 in 2 seasons, posting the 2nd highest total ever this year at 50.

Marcelo has been the best field player this program has ever had. It has been a pleasure working with him. I fully expect Marcelo to make a big impact at the D1 College level.
Donovan Dowling – Sophomore – Olathe, Kansas
Honorable Mention All American Goalkeeper
Dowling has been spectacular in his 2 seasons in goal for the Cougars culminating with his honorable mention selection as keeper giving the Cougars an All American keeper for the 3rd time in 4 years. Dowling is the career leader in shutouts for the Cougars with 13 this past season and 23 for his career. The 13 in 2008 is a single-season record. Dowling allowed just eight goals all year for the Cougars while posting 73 saves. In his 2 seasons at Barton, Dowling is 38-4-2 as a starter for the Cougars in goal.

Donovan has been a great leader for us over the last two years. He has started every game in two years and anchored a back line that has lost only 4 games in two years. He will be greatly missed by us and is great pick up for IPFW at the D1 level.
