| Barton takes pair of 1-0 wins in Mid Kansas Shoot Out
 The Barton County Community College men’s soccer team is quickly gaining a reputation as a team that is hard to score on. The Cougars notched a pair of 1-0 shutouts this past weekend at the Mid Kansas Shoot Out, scoring their 3rd and 4th shutouts of the seasons in 8 games. In 3 more games, the Cougars have allowed just 1 goal. With the Cougars 1-0 wins over Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa and Western Nebraska, Barton has now won 7 straight and are 7-1 overall this season. Barton will look to stay perfect in the Jayhawk Conference Wednesday as they travel to Dodge City. Barton is unbeaten in its last 11 Jayhawk games.
Highlights
Ben Hamilton scored both goals for the Cougars over the weekend to provide the offense for Barton. Against what was an unbeaten Northern Oklahoma team, Hamilton scored with less than 15 minutes to play in the opening half, netting a goal on an assist from Thiago Baby at the 32:09 mark. That was all the scoring Barton would need as Craig Ratanamorn stopped all 3 shots put on goal by the Mavericks.
Sunday, the Cougars and Western Nebraska battled scoreless for most the contest before Hamilton scored on a perfect feed from Micah Nelson with just more than 15 minutes to play in the game. Nelson feed Hamilton breaking in from the left side at the 74:39 mark of the contest. From there on, Barton staved off numerous Western Nebraska scoring opportunities to secure the 1-0 win. Ratanamorn had an impressive 9 saves during the game to record the shutout.
