Season ends with disappointing loss for Jayhawk Champ Barton
The Barton County Community College men’s soccer team had high hopes heading into the Region VI playoffs. But for the 2nd straight year the season ended before the Jayhawk Conference champions wanted it to. This time Barton bowed out in the opening round at home, losing in an upset to Allen County in a penalty kick shootout. Barton and Allen tied 1-1 but Allen won the shootout by a 6-5 margin to advance to the semifinals where they will take on Kansas City Kansas in the semifinals. The semifinals will be an all East affair as the West went winless in 4 1st round contests. Barton season ends with a 9-8-2 record.

Barton drops regular season finale; remains top seed in Region VI playoffs
The Barton County Community College men’s soccer team entered Wednesday’s regular season finale with not much to play. And the Cougars played like it. Barton County had already wrapped up the Jayhawk Conference title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region VI tournament prior to the game. A good thing since Dodge City put an end to the Cougars 6-game winning streak with a 2-0 blanking of Barton County. The loss drops Barton to 9-8-1 overall this season and 8-2 in the Jayhawk Conference. Barton will open Region VI play by hosting Allen County (6-10, 3-7) Tuesday at 2 pm at Cougar Fields.

Cougars win at Allen; wrap up Jayhawk title
The Barton County Community College men’s soccer team laid claim to its 2nd straight Jayhawk Conference title with a win this weekend and a loss by Kansas City Kansas, ensuring that the Cougars win the crown with still one conference game remaining. Barton improved to 8-1 in the Jayhawk Conference with a 3-1 road win over Allen County in Iola Saturday. That, coupled with a 1-0 Johnson County win over KCK, kept the crown at Barton for another year. The win moved Barton to 8-1 in the conference and KCK’s loss dropped them to 6-3. Each has one game remaining. Barton is now 9-7-1 overall and the winner’s of 6 straight contests. Allen County dropped to 6-8 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

Cougars win at Hesston; keep lead in Region VI
The Barton County Community College men’s soccer team is quietly getting the job done. The Cougars won for the 3rd straight outing – a season-high – Thursday night when they traveled to Hesston and defeated the Larks by a 3-0 score in Region VI play. The win moved Barton County to 6-7-1 overall and 5-1 in Region VI play. The Cougars have lost 5 of their 7 setbacks to teams ranked in the Top 15 or receiving votes for the Top 15. Barton will return home in an attempt to reach .500 for the 1st time this season Saturday as Neosho pays a visit at 4 p.m.

Barton sweeps weekend games; sits atop Jayhawk Conference
The Barton County Community College men’s soccer team put together one of its better weekends of the season this past weekend, posting a pair of wins. It started Saturday with a big win over Jayhawk Conference rival Johnson County. The Cougars earned a 2-0 win over the Cavaliers to strengthen its lead on the West side of Region VI. Barton then traveled to Tonkawa, Okla. where the Cougars made it a 2-0 weekend with a neutral site win over Lon Morris (Texas), 1-0. Barton is now 5-7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Jayhawk.

Cougars drop pair of contest against ranked foes at Mid Kansas ShootOut
The Barton County Community College men’s soccer team battled a pair of tough teams this weekend at the annual Mid Kansas ShootOut held in Great Bend at Barton County. The Cougars struggled Saturday after a good start, losing to No. 13 Iowa Central by a 7-1 count. Sunday afternoon Barton battled the No. 7 in the nation in Tyler (Texas) to a 2-0 loss. The losses leave Barton with a 3-6-1 mark with four of the six losses coming at the hand of ranked opponents.
