Barton
rolls by McPherson JV to improve to 3-0 on young season
The
Barton County Community College men’s basketball team kept
its record perfect with a 75-50 win over the McPherson College JV
Monday night at the Barton County Gym. The win was the 3rd in 4
days for Barton to start off the 2005-06 season. The win moved the
Cougars to 3-0 for the season. The hectic early season pace will
not slow down for Barton as the Cougars head to Colorado Springs
for 3 more games this weekend. The games Thursday thru Saturday
will give Barton 6 games in 9 days to start the season.
Highlights
The Cougars got off to a slow start to the contest, letting McPherson
hang around much of the 1st half. Barton finally took a double-digit
lead on the Bulldogs as the Cougars went on a 9-0 run to grab a
28-15 advantage with 5:08 left in the opening half. Barton led 37-21
at intermission. In the 2nd half, the Cougars to 33 at 69-36 with
just more than 8 minutes to play.
Barton
was led by Chris Berry with 25 points in the win on 11-of-17 shooting
from the field. Berry also paced the Cougars with 7 rebounds. Thaigo
Cordiero added 15 for Barton to go with 6 boards. Those were the
only two Cougars in double figures. Dominique White led Barton with
7 assists.
Barton
will play three straight in Colorado Springs this weekend, starting
with Eastern Utah Thursday. The Cougars will play New Mexico Military
Friday before concluding the Classic with host Air Force Prep Saturday
in a rematch of the season-opening win for Barton.
