Campbell resigns post as Barton men’s basketball coach
Dave ‘Soupy’ Campbell resigned his post as the men’s basketball coach at Barton County Community College after guiding the program for two seasons. Barton’s Board of Trustees accepted Campbell’s resignation at a special Board meeting today.

Campbell led the Cougars to the Region VI title game in 2004, during his first season with the Cougars. He finishes his stint at Barton with a 38-26 record. This past season was the 27th overall for the Hall of Fame coach who has a career record of 624-252.

“It is, as it must be, a very difficult time to be the men’s head basketball coach at Barton,” said Stephan Mermis, Barton County Community College Board of Trustees Chairman. “Coach Campbell desires to coach under different circumstances.”

Campbell is the tenth coach of the Barton men’s basketball program. The Cougars will begin their search for the College’s 11th head coach.
