Barton 8th in final conference men's golf meet of fall season
The Barton Community College men’s golf team took 8th at the final Jayhawk Conference meet of the fall season at The Highlands in Hutchinson recently. The Cougars finished just 2 strokes out 7th and now sit in 6th place through 3 events in the conference standings. There are 6 total conference meets with 3 more in the spring season. Hutchinson won the meet with a 653 on its home course followed by Dodge City with a 662. Johnson County had a 663.
Highlights
No Barton golfer was able to place in the Top 20 and medal but Barton placed all 4 of its scorers within 3 strokes of each other. Tyler Hallagin led the way with a 179 – tied for 24th – struggling to a 97 the opening day and rebounding with an 82 the 2nd day. Ben Eastes was next with a 180, shooting a 95 the opening day and an 85 the final day. Tobey Mullen had the top score for Barton on the opening day with an 89 but shot a 92 the next day to finish 31st with a 181. Rounding out the Barton team total was Cale Demel, who shot a 97-85 for a 182. Travis Neidig shot a 202 for the Cougars.
Barton had the 4th best score of the tournament the 2nd day, shooting a 344 behind Hutch (322), Johnson (331) and Dodge (341). The event completes the fall season for the Cougar golfer who will play in 3 more conference meets in the spring. The spring meets will be held in Kansas City, at the Hesston Country Club and at Cotton Hills Golf Club in Hutchinson.
