Cougar women place 10th at NJCAA golf tournament
The Barton County Community College women’s golf team earned a Top 10 finish at the NJCAA National Golf Championships recently in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Cougars finished 10th place at the event won by Redlands College (Okla). Barton shot a 1470 as a team during the 4-day event to place 10th of the 12 teams that qualified for the national tournament. Ali Rein led the Barton attack, shooting 357 for 49th place out of 90 golfers.

Barton men’s golf team finishes 18th at NJCAA Golf Championships
The Barton County Community College men’s golf team finished 17th at a very competitive NJCAA National Championship this past week at Rusido, NM. Barton shot 23-over par as a team over the 4 day event at The Links at Sierra Blanca par 72 layout. The winning team shot under par as a team every day as did 6 other teams. Midland (Texas) won the event with a score of 62-under Par.

Barton men’s golf team in 17th halfway through NJCAA meet
The Barton County Community College men’s golf team moved up to 17th place after the 2nd day of competition at the NJCAA National Golf Championships in Ruidoso, NM after a good day Wednesday on the links. The Cougars shot a 281 Tuesday to give them a 2-day total of 582 at the halfway point of the tournament. Barton sophomore Nick Rotolo led the way, firing a 6-under par 66.

Women’s golf grabs Region VI title
The Barton County Community College women’s golf team is headed to Daytona Beach. The Cougars captured the Region VI title this week and earned the right to move on to the NJCAA Championship meet in Daytona Beach, Florida. Barton hosted the Region VI meet at Stone Ridge Country Club in Great Bend. The home course proved helpful for the golfers. Barton won the title with a total two day score of 755, good for a 3 stroke victory over 2nd place Dodge City. Ali Rein of Barton also took the individual title with a score of 179. The Cougar team built momentum all through the season and look to carry that over to Florida for the national meet May 15-18.

Women’s golf takes 2nd in Central Christian Invitational
The Barton County Community College women’s golf team traveled to McPherson to participate in the March 2006 Central Christian Invitational and came back happy. The Cougars took 2nd place in the event and placed all 5 individual golfers in the top 15. Next up for Barton will be the Colby Invitational at Colby on April 17

Men’s golf tees off in first two conference designates
The Barton County Community College men’s golf team has started off their spring season. The Cougars first competed at Rolling Hills Country Club in Junction City, taking 6th place in their first spring designate. Barton had an even stronger showing, taking 2nd in their next designate at Park Hills Country Club in Pratt. The 2nd place finish will give the men some momentum as they move into their final designate of the season at Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence.

Golf season in full swing for the Cougars
The Barton County Community College golf teams have started the 2005-06 season off with both the men and women completing their first 3 conference designates. The men’s highest finish so far was an impressive 4th place showing at Auburn Hills in Wichita with a team score of 647, placing 4 Cougars in the top 30. Barton’s women finished 3rd in the Central Christian Invite with a total score of 779, led by a two day score of 181 Meghan Carey.
