Barton golf takes 16th at NJCAA National Meet
The Barton County men’s golf team finished the season with a 16th place effort at the NJCAA National Meet in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Cougars shot total of 1248 over the 4 days. The winner was Faulkner State (Ala.), which shot an 1170.

Cougars qualify for NJCAA National Tournament
The Barton County men’s golf team earned the right to play in the school’s 6th NJCAA tournament as a team with a its effort at the District III Championships this week. The Cougars finished 4th at the event played on Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg, Neb. The top 6 teams qualify for the NJCAA event. This will be the 2nd straight year the team has made it the NJCAA National Tournament.

Barton comes up short in bid for Jayhawk Conference title
The Barton County men’s golf team just missed out on the Jayhawk Conference title, placing 2nd for the season after a tie for 4th in the final meet of the year, the KJCCC Championships in Lawrence. Barton needed to finish 2nd to assure them the overall title. Barton’s Martyn Pearson also come up short in his bid for the individual title, finishing 2nd as well overall.

Cougars continue hot play on links; take conference lead
The Barton County men’s golf team made it 2-for-2 in Jayhawk Conference Designates this spring, winning their won designate Tuesday. The Cougars won the Barton County designate played at The Club at StoneRidge by an impressive 23 strokes. Barton ended with a score of 610 to runner-up Johnson County’s 633. The win also pushed the Cougars to the top of the Jayhawk standings. The 5 points earned for the designate win gives Barton 21 points through five designates. That gives the Cougars a 2-point lead over former leader Dodge City, which scored just 1 point at the Barton designate and now has 19. Johnson County is 3rd with 17.5.

Cougars capture first designate of spring season
The Barton County men’s golf team jumped out of the gates in its second season, winning the first Jayhawk Conference designate of the spring. Barton won the Colbert Hills Designate at Colbert Hills Country Club in Manhattan.
The win gives Barton County 16 points through four of the six designates, good for 2nd place overall this season. Dodge City leads with 18 points.
