During his first season at the helm of the track team last year, the men's and women's team won both the indoor and outdoor NJCAA titles. That gives the men 7 straight indoor and outdoor title while the women have won 7 straight indoor and 4 straight outdoor.

Lashley came to Barton in fall 1997, after coaching track and field at Hitchcock High School in the Texas town between Houston and Galveston. Lashley also taught math and computer science classes in Hitchcock. He coached and taught for a short time in Louisiana before moving to Texas.

A native of Monroe, La., Lashley competed in track and field at Louisiana Tech University four seasons as a distance runner. In Neville High School, Monroe, Lashley ran track, helping his squad take state and regional honors.

He graduated in May of 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in math education and earned a minor in English.
