Lyles
Lashley is in his 2nd season as head coach at Barton County.
He spent five seasons as assistant track and field coach
at Barton County. As an assistant, he coached the distance
and throwing events. Lashley has also coached the Barton
cross country team for the past 7 years. He is also a math
instructor at Barton County.
The men's cross country team has placed in the Top 5 at the NJCAA
National Meet the past seasons -- taking 3rd the past two seasons.
That is the highest finish ever for a men's cross country team
at Barton County. The women's team has placed in the Top 10 the
past six seasons.
Lashley
has coached three women's cross country All-Americans and
nine men's cross country All-Americans.
During
his first season at the helm of the track team last year,
the men's and women's team won both the indoor and outdoor
NJCAA titles. That gives the men 7 straight indoor and
outdoor title while the women have won 7 straight indoor
and 4 straight outdoor.
Lashley
came to Barton in fall 1997, after coaching track and field
at Hitchcock High School in the Texas town between Houston
and Galveston. Lashley also taught math and computer science
classes in Hitchcock. He coached and taught for a short
time in Louisiana before moving to Texas.
A
native of Monroe, La., Lashley competed in track and field
at Louisiana Tech University four seasons as a distance
runner. In Neville High School, Monroe, Lashley ran track,
helping his squad take state and regional honors.
He
graduated in May of 1996 with a bachelors degree
in math education and earned a minor in English.
